Who we are
Kinfold is an early-stage project to build intergenerational neighbourhoods on the Kāpiti Coast. It's led by its founder, Shadoe. If you have a question about your information, email hello@kinfold.nz.
What we collect
- When you join the First Fold: your first name, email address and, if you choose one, your life stage.
- When you take part on the page: the town you tap on the map, any name you suggest, and the moments you pick for a week in the village. You can do this without joining. If you then join, we link those answers to your sign-up so we can understand who wants what.
- Nothing sneaky: no advertising trackers, no selling or swapping lists.
Why we collect it
- To email you when there's something to weigh in on, and to tell you what we heard.
- To shape the first village: where it goes, what it's called, what it shares, how it looks.
We won't use your details for anything unrelated to Kinfold without asking you first.
Where it's kept
Your answers are stored in a private Google Sheet that only the Kinfold team can open. Google may store that data on servers outside New Zealand, under its own security and privacy commitments. When we start sending emails, we may move the list into an email service; we'll update this page when we do.
How long we keep it
For as long as you're in the First Fold. Leave whenever you like, using the link in any email or by emailing us, and we'll delete your details. Anonymous totals (like how many people picked Ōtaki) may stay in our records.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email hello@kinfold.nz and we'll sort it. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
How we use your input
- It shapes the work, it doesn't bind it. Map taps, name ideas and picks tell us what matters to people. Final decisions also depend on land, consents, cost and the people who hold mana whenua here.
- We'll show our working. After each decision we'll share what we heard and what we did with it.
- Ideas you share are a gift to the project. If you suggest a name or an idea, you're happy for Kinfold to use it. We may share ideas without your name attached.
- This isn't an offer to invest. Joining the First Fold doesn't give you shares, a place in the village or any financial interest, and nothing here is an offer of financial products.
